Located along some of the most beautiful stretches of Pacific Coast Highway 1, Hearst Castle’s history begins in 1865, when George Hearst purchased 40,000 acres of ranchland. During my road trip from San Francisco to LA, we stopped for a private tour of this legendary estate, before seeing it being featured in the Lady Gaga music video G.U.Y.

Castle’s beautiful garden

William Randolph Hearst wanted a garden that displayed a profusion of blooms throughout the year

You’ll always see the gardens in full bloom—no matter when you take a Castle tour

The Enchanted Hill’s luxurious Neptune Pool

The Neptune and Nereid statues decorate the majestic pool

Neptune Pool

The Roman Pool is a tiled indoor pool decorated with eight statues of Roman gods, goddesses and heroes.

The pool appears to be styled after an ancient Roman bath such as the Baths of Caracalla in Rome c. 211-17 CE

Hearst Castle was such an amazing find in the middle of the CA central coast. A must see for sure.
