One World

One of my closest friends and amazing photographer Marcella Marer just returned from a lifetime trip around the world. She joined Photographers for Hope, an initiative led by 13 photographers who believe in the power of images to support positive social change.

These international photographers went to Bangladesh to commemorate its independence. Using the 40th anniversary of this nation’s Victory Day as an opportunity to reflect on how the country and its citizens have progressed in the last four decades, these pictures below are a snapshot of today’s Bangladesh. Their stories are ones of hardship, success, challenges and triumphs.

I also wanted to share some other great shots of her same trip to bordering India. Lately, I’ve been itching to visit Asia for the first time, and looking at Marcella’s pictures have motivated me to finally consider planning this trip. Can we all agree on how spectacular and captivating the colors and the sprawling landscape of this place is?
