Raw but brilliant anti-smoking ads
Quitting smoking is really difficult but not impossible. These campaigns against smoking, admittedly, do everything they can to convince us. Take a look:
- As a woman can become a sexual “pawn”, so can a smoker become a “slave” to… its master, the cigarette.
- Taking aim at the cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris, this poster compares the cigarette ashes with the ashes of a cremated person whose name is Philip, clearly implying that his death resulted from smoking.
Premature aging: The lady shown with a cigarette in her mouth, with blackened and shriveled hands, is blowing out the candles of the cake with the number 42.
A typical message adds the word cancer and suddenly takes a different, frightening concept. It may be slow to "load" but when it does, the "result" will be final and irrevocable.
The effects of cigarette smoking is known and obvious. But what about passive or second hand smoking?
That's the motto for this campaign against smoking: an otherwise happy life can end abruptly because of the habit.
The anti-smoking campaign of the Cancer Society of Finland was really shocking. A human lung is composed of cigarette butts shows with the most vivid way how human organs are affected by smoking.
This poster says simply and bluntly the truth, dividing the cemetery into two parts. Observe and understand.
- Most smokers admit that they put a cigarette in their mouth for the first time in their lives while still attending school. This poster “shows” parents that their children participate in other activities, besides exchanging notes with their classmates.
Although I have never smoked, I appreciate the difficult in quitting this very addictive habit. However, I still want to remind my friends of the risks of what might be a few minutes of pleasure.
